xHE-AAC, the latest upgrade to the MPEG AAC codec family, has mainly been developed by Fraunhofer IIS and combines the advantages of existing audio and speech codecs within one technology. It provides consistent high quality audio for all signal types, such as talk radio or music programs at low bit rates. Moreover, at this year’s IBC Fraunhofer IIS presented with “StreamS Live” from Modulation Index, LLC the first professional streaming encoder supporting xHE-AAC.
