Tonmeistertagung 2021 is ahead and we look forward to meeting people, presenting our developments, and hearing all the news.
November 3-6, 2021, are definitely red-letter days in the Fraunhofer IIS calendar. Not only are we excited to be a part of the 31st Tonmeistertagung (tmt), but the congress is also the first one at its new Düsseldorf location, and we can – finally! – attend in person again. As the Verband Deutscher Tonmeister is gearing up for the 31st edition of their “pro audio industry event”, we are (literally) dusting off our event gear and packing up what’s needed to present all the exciting new developments of the last 3 years.
In the IIS room 10, you can experience several aspects of MPEG-H Audio: A listening station showcases the potential and fascination of immersive sound in a living room setting without complex speaker setup. At the Production Tools station, you can see how 3D sound is created in various live and postproduction settings with the easy-to-use tools provided by Fraunhofer IIS. And to top it off, the Dialog+ station showcases how audiences benefit from various dialogue enhancement options and how the technology can be used in different environments.
Thanks to scores of online events, our colleagues’ presentation skills are as great as ever and they look forward to sharing their news in several presentations and discussions:
- MPEG-H Authoring Tools for immersive and personalized audio production
03.11. 15:00: Philipp Eibl - Thementag Binaural: Zukunft von 3D Audio (German; The future of 3D Audio)

tmt is one of the most important international congresses in the pro audio industry. Every second year, it showcases the latest trends in product development, research, and application. Congress program and exhibition provide an extensive overview of the latest trends, news, and developments. Attendant audio experts from broadcasting to studios, from theatre to film and television share their experiences and expertise.
After a three-year-hiatus instead of the usual two, we are excited to pick up the threads of old and new discussions, meet longstanding acquaintances, and make new connections. We look forward to learn about new tools and techniques, and curious to see what’s new in the ever-changing world of audio production.
